THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2
Registration / Swag Pick-up | 12 – 8pm
Buy/pick up your festival tickets and swag at the Castle Dale Visitors Center. Beat the crowds and get here early to start enjoying your stay in Emery County. It’s a great time to use your free ticket to the Museum of the San Rafael or use your Food Voucher at a local restaurant. Then head to Orangeville for all the Thursday evening festivities.
Castle Dale / Orangeville Photo Scavenger Hunt | 12pm
Just getting into the area and want to get oriented? And, want to earn an extra ticket for the big prize drawings? Complete the Fest Quest photo scavenger hunt in the towns of Castle Dale and Orangeville. You can complete any time before Saturday at noon but this is a great time to get started. Download the instructions or pick up at registration.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3
Registration / Swag Pick-up | 8am – 8pm

Kodiak Pancake Breakfast | 8am - 9:30am
Free breakfast for ticketed attendees ONLY! We’ll be whipping up Kodiak pancakes to get your weekend and Friday morning started right! Stop by the Emery County Rec Center.
Shoe Demo | 8am – 10am
Free climbing shoe demos! Get here early to try some climbing shoes on and take them out to the boulders for the morning sessions. At the Emery County Rec Center.
Local Experience - Fishin' Joe's with Joe and Jo | 8 – 11am
Learn from local award-winning fishermen Joe and Jo just how to catch those big fish out of the town fishin’ hole. Hear their fascinating fish tales and get tips that every local would be jealous to know! Gear provided, if needed. Meet at the Emery County Rec Center lawn to carpool up to the reservoir. *Fest Admission ticket required to purchase Add-ons clinic/experience.
FREE Morning Yin Yoga | 9am – 10am
Enjoy this relaxing morning yoga session with local yogi, Valyn Hess Peacock. Location coming soon!
Climbing Clinics | 9am – 2pm
Meet at the Emery County Rec Center to learn from the pros about everything, from shorty beta to technique tips to how to capture it best on camera. Space is limited so buy your tickets early! Bring your crash pad if you have one but we’ll have you covered, if not. And if needed, get shoes ahead of time at the morning Shoe Demo! Find a Climbing Partner Meet-up | 10 – 10:30am
Not doing a clinic or meet-up but still want to climb with folks? Grab a refreshing drink at Cup of Joes and mingle on their outdoor patio to find a new friend or assemble a whole crew to go hit the boulders. Be bold! It’s going to be great!
Bouldering Meet-up | 10am – 2pm
Join Color the Wasatch, Cruxing in Color, Fat Senders, Ladies Climbing Coalition, and SLAQC as they team up for a meet-up. Meet at the Emery County Rec Center to carpool out to the boulders.
Local Experience - Makin’ Friendship Bread | 11 am - 12 pm
Learn about the wonderful tradition of friendship bread from local baker Sharon Bunderson. The starter and recipes are shared among family and friends, building community and connections in the form of tasty treats! Get all the tips on making the bread and maintaining the starter in this new addition to our local artisan clinics. And you'll get to taste some of Sharon's delicious creations. Not to mention, she'll be sending you, one of her new friends, off with your own starter so you can continue the tradition when you head home from Joe's! Geology of Joe's Valley | 11am – 2pm
Have you ever wondered what makes Joe's Valley one of the top bouldering areas in the world? Meet Geologist Pete Kilborne and Paul Anderson at Braun Lapidary, Castle Dale's rock shop, then board the shuttle bus to the canyons to talk shop about rocks. *Fest Admission ticket required to purchase Add-ons clinic/experience.
Local Artisan Clinic - Makin' Copper Jewelry | 12 – 2pm
Jon and Cindy Judd have been making a variety of hand-made products, like saddles and jewelry, since the 80's. In this clinic you'll learn how to make copper jewelry in their incredible studio! Meet at San Rafael Works. *Fest Admission ticket required to purchase Add-ons clinic/experience.
Local Artisan Clinic - Makin' a GIANT Pizza | 1:30 – 2:30pm
Have you ever crushed a project just so you could earn your send pizza at the local favorite, R Pizza? Come learn how to make their signature dish - the Giant Pizza - and take some of it with you! This 1-hour clinic will be at R Pizza Place in Castle Dale, UT. *Fest Admission ticket required to purchase Add-ons clinic/experience.
Local Artisan Clinic - Makin' Food Ranch Donuts | 2 – 3pm
Come learn how to make the world famous Food Ranch donuts and take some home with you! See how the process works end to end from the experts. Then get creative customizing with dozens of toppings. All ending in an epic tasting session! Meet at the Food Ranch. *Fest Admission ticket required to purchase Add-ons clinic/experience.
Trade Fair | 2 – 7pm
Castle Dale is the place to be! With all the hype, we decided to expand the Trade Fair to two days! There will be sponsor and non-profit booths, artisan vendors, and local kids from the Junior Entrepreneurs selling their wares. Stop by and visit booths before heading to the rodeo! Come see all the fun at the Emery County Rec Center.
Food Trucks | 2 – 8pm
Enjoy some amazing food from our local food connoisseurs, including Gettin' Our Smoke On's gourmet brisket and bbq'd food cooked with real wood! At the Emery County Rec Center. Your food voucher from your swag bag are good at all Food Trucks as well as the local businesses listed on them.

“Training On the Go” Workshop | 4 - 5:30pm
Constantly on the road or pressed for time from life’s hectic schedule? Your training and climbing progress doesn’t need to be at a standstill! Join Olympic athlete and competitive climber, Kyra Condie, on the lawn outside the Emery County Rec Center where she’ll impart wisdom on all things training, from maximizing time and tools at hand while traveling to nutrition and fueling on the go! This workshop is open to all and will be first-come, first-serve so there’s no need to register in advance, but spaces are limited and Fest ticket holders will be prioritized! This clinic is sponsored by OCUN.
Bein’ A Pioneer | 4 – 6pm
Check out what life used to be like in these parts with demos of some ol’ fashioned living! Stop on by on the lawn outside the Emery County Rec Center.
Rodeo Games Sign-ups | 4pm
Sign up for steer riding and hide racing on the lawn outside the Castle Dale Rodeo Grounds. Spots will fill quickly! Steer riders: Be sure to take the class at 4:30pm to get some tips. You MUST be over 18 years of age and wear your closed toed shoes and pants to participate. These are required. Safety vest/jacket and helmet are also required but will be provided. Let’s go!!!
Rodeo Classes | 4:30 – 6:30pm
At the Castle Dale Rodeo Grounds. Learn how to use a lasso, ride a horse, and get tips on how to ride a steer!
Rodeo Games | 6:30 – 9pm
At the outdoor arena at the Castle Dale Rodeo Grounds. The games will feature everything from chicken chases to hide races. Don't forget the steer riding! Absolutely the highlight of the Fest!
Bonfire and S'mores | 8:30 – 10:30pm
Enjoy a sweet treat and make some new friends around the fire. Meet at the Emery County Rec Center lawn.
Night Bouldering Meet-Up New Joe’s | 9pm – Midnight
Meet at the Castle Dale Visitors Center to caravan to the boulders at New Joe's. Come solo or bring your crew as we light up the night. If you are driving directly to New Joe’s, please carpool as parking is limited. Bring your own headlamp, lights and crash pads if you have them. But plenty of pads and lights will be available if you don’t!
*If you plan to utilize our shuttle, the shuttle will leave from the Castle Dale Visitor Center at 9PM and return from the boulder parking at 11:30PM.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4
Late Swag Pick-up | 8am – 12pm

Breathwork with Michelle Rasmussen | 8am – 8:45am
Open yourself up to your intuition, creativity and connection to others in this Breathwork session led by local Michelle Rasmussen. Please bring a yoga mat or towel, if you have one, for this session in the park at Emery County Rec Center. *Fest Admission ticket required to purchase Add-ons clinic/experience.
Shoe Demo | 8am – 10am
Free climbing shoe demos! Get here early to try some climbing shoes on and take them out to the boulders for the morning sessions. At the Emery County Rec Center.
FREE Morning Vinyasa Flow Yoga | 9am – 10am
Flow mindfully in this unhurried practice with yogi Kayla Bautista. She’ll lead you through intentionally guided breath-to-movement transitions to allow you to explore each pose with awareness and proper alignment. Expect to leave feeling centered, strong, and motivated to crush your next boulder problem. Accessible for all levels.

Finger Injury Prevention and Treatment Workshop | 9:30am - 11am
Have aching finger joints or persistent tendon or pulley injuries? PT Miguel Zevallos will discuss all of the common finger injuries prevalent to climbers, how to prevent them, and how to treat them in this workshop. He'll also do finger strength testing with participants and discuss different training regimen for increasing finger strength depending on your goals! Meet on the lawn outside the Emery County Rec Center for this first-come, first-serve workshop. There’s no need to register in advance, but spaces are limited and Fest ticket holders will be prioritized! This clinic is sponsored by RHINO SKIN.

Not doing a clinic or meet-up but still want to climb with folks and make new friends? Swing over to Cup of Joes and mingle on their outdoor patio. Lincoln, founder of Ground Up Grips, will also be demoing their newly released warm up blocks! Warm up those fingers and test it out and for all those that give it a pull, you’ll be instantly entered into a giveaway scheduled to happen right before you head out!

Yoga with Olivia Hsu | 2 - 3 pm
Olivia found yoga to be the perfect compliment to climbing, cultivating focus and flexibility on both the mental and physical levels. She has studied yoga for over two decades and as a high level athlete she has been able to find the delicate balance between practice and training and understands the myriad ways in which yoga complements doing what you love. Olivia’s classes are rooted in cultivating mindfulness that flows from a focused and continuous asana practice. Her unique understanding of the nuances within both disciplines enables her to build flexibility, stamina, strength, and awareness in her classes.
Trade Fair | 2 – 7pm
Castle Dale is the place to be Saturday afternoon and evening! There will be sponsor and non-profit booths, artisan vendors, and local kids from the Junior Entrepreneurs selling their wares. Pop back and forth between the Trade Fair, the Block Party, and the Climber Games, all on the Emery County Rec Center lawn.
JVF Block Party | 4 – 6pm
Enjoy some cold beverages, live music, tasty food, and general hanging out at the Emery County Rec Center lawn. Send the kids (or yourself) up the in town climbing wall to warm up for the Climber Games.
BD x Hex Climber Games | 4:30 – 6:30pm
Put those unique climber skills to the test (or just come watch the fun) with some wacky games like table bouldering, chalk pot pong, and crate stacking. Check out the salmon ladder and Ninja Line while you’re there, too. All at the Emery County Rec Center!
Food Trucks | 2 - 8pm
Enjoy some amazing food from our local connoisseurs including Down the Hatch at the Emery County Rec Center. Your Food Voucher from your swag bag are good at all Food Trucks as well as the local businesses listed on them.
Drawing for Prizes! | 7 – 9pm
Come to the Emery County Rec Center Pavilion for our HUGE drawing of amazing products from our sponsors! One free ticket comes in your swag bag and buy more at the Castle Dale Visitors Center to improve your chances!
Joe-down! | 9 – 10:30pm
You may have heard of hoedowns and hootenannies but you’ve never experienced a Joe-down before! Grab your dancing shoes and close out the night with a rootin’ tootin’ good time.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5
Coffee & Donuts | 8 – 9am
Brought to you by Food Ranch and Cup of Joe’s. Meet at Food Ranch parking lot to get your caffeine and sugar fix with the Joe’s Valley Coalition team. Find out what they’ve been working on the past year and learn about what’s coming up with our 2 year, grant funded, Safety First! Project. A great chance to also give your inputs on Coalition priorities for the next year!
Service Day | 9am – 12pm
Hosted by the Joe’s Valley Coalition. Meet at the Food Ranch at 9am and pick your project. If you have just an hour or so, help us pick up trash around town. If you have just a little bit more time, join us for a few hours of light trail work. What better way to close out the Fest than by giving back a little (and having a last little bit of fun with your friends)? See you there!
In Town Volunteer Project | 2 – 4pm
A big part of the Joe’s Valley Fest is giving back to both the climbing and local communities. This year we have this extra in-town option outside of Stewardship Sunday. Details coming soon!
Science Challenge Project | 4 – 5pm
If you enjoyed last year’s Gummy Bear Challenge, don’t miss this year’s engineering challenge! Our scientist friends at the Utah San Rafael State Energy Lab are finalizing details but, rest assured, it’ll be fun for the whole family!
La Sportiva Trail Run and Refresh | 4:30 – 5:30pm
Kick up some dust on a scenic trail run along the creek in Orangeville. Join us at Orangeville City Park at 4:30pm to demo some La Sportiva running shoes before a 3k run taking off at 5pm. Don’t like running? Walk the trail and read about the local Orangeville history with our informational signs posted along the way! Either way, when you return to the park, stick around afterwards to enjoy some ice cold beverages before diving into the Orangeville Olympics!
Orangeville Olympics | 5 – 9pm
Come out to the Orangeville City Park to compete, spectate, or just have some fun! There will be Cornhole, Pickleball, Horseshoes and other games. Grab food or peruse work from local vendors and listen to music from Desert Sage. Or how about some crafts and coloring projects with the kiddos? Bring the whole family and check it out!
Food Trucks | 5 – 8:30pm
Enjoy food from local favorites such as Gettin’ Our Smoke On while you spectate or participate in all the Olympic fun!
Buckhorn Bazaar Local Artisans | 5 – 8:30pm
The Buckhorn Bazaar is a regular showcase of local artisans and they’ve made our Orangeville Olympics October’s event. Come check out the assortment of homemade jewelry, beauty products, and tasty treats to join is in supporting local businesses!
Cornhole Tournament | 6 – 9pm
Sign up and join in the fun at the Orangeville City Park by the Community Center. Free entry, prizes awarded!
Pickleball Tournament | 6 – 9pm
